CU Denver Recognized as Military Spouse Friendly School
The University of Colorado Denver is proud to receive the 2022–2023 Military Spouse Friendly School designation for leading practices, outcomes, and effective programs for military spouses. This designation follows CU Denver’s Military Friendly Schools: Gold Award designation earlier this year.
Institutions earning the Military Spouse Friendly School designation were evaluated using public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Of the 1,200 schools that participated in the 2022–2023 survey, 785 earned the Military Friendly School designation and 346 were selected for the Military Spouse Friendly Schools list.
The award recognizes CU Denver’s commitment to providing service members and their families with high-quality education specifically tailored to their distinct needs through the Office of Veteran & Military Student Services (VMSS). VMSS offers specialized services for veterans, active-duty military, and military-connected students that help them succeed in the classroom and jumpstart their future careers.
CU Denver is honored to receive the Military Spouse Friendly School designation for the upcoming 2022–2023 academic year, Director of VMSS Leona Lopez said. “Our commitment to serving those who have served includes providing care and service to military spouses. It’s important to recognize that military spouses also serve their country through sacrifice, and they experience many military-service related challenges as they earn their degrees,” she said. “VMSS is committed to assisting military spouses by providing them with the resources and tools needed to help them successfully complete their academic journeys.”
At CU Denver, admission application fees are waived for military-connected students. They also receive priority class registration and specialty services, including tutoring, peer mentoring, professional development, and community and institution resource referrals.
