The University of Colorado (University) is a public research university with multiple campuses serving Colorado. As the University fulfills its mission of education, research, and disseminating knowledge, it will also fulfill its responsibility to comply with all U.S. export control laws and regulations, such as the Export Administration Regulations implemented by the Department of Commerce, International Traffic in Arms Regulations implemented by the Department of State, and regulations implemented by the Treasury Department through its Office of Foreign Assets Control.
Violations of the export control laws may give rise to personal liabilities, both civil and criminal, as well as institutional liabilities and penalties. Consequently, the University expects its employees to be familiar with the export control laws, to understand when they are performing functions that may give rise to export control concerns, and to consult with University export control officials on the applicable campus so that they may fulfill their export control responsibilities.
