Study shows involuntary displacement of people experiencing homelessness may cause significant spikes in mortality, overdoses and hospitalizations

Researchers found that homeless involuntary displacement policies, such as camping bans, sweeps and move-along orders, could result in 15%-25% of deaths among unhoused people who use drugs in 10 years. Forced relocation moves people away from essential services, such as addiction treatment centers and safe injection sites, also resulting in more hospitalizations, overdoses and infections.
