Changes to Regent Articles 1, 5, 7, 9 and related policies approved; obsolete discrimination policies eliminated
The Board of Regents adopted a new law and policy on freedom of expression, revised the law and policy relating to ethical conduct of the university community, revised the law and policies relating to students and rescinded three obsolete discrimination policies – all effective September 14, 2018.

Note: The proposed changes to Policy 7.A: Admissions included removing the minimum academic preparation standards (MAPS) from regent policy and move them into an administrative policy statement (APS). The new APS8013-Minimum Academic Preparation Standards (MAPS) for Undergraduate Admission has been approved and is effective as of September 14, 2018.
The Board of Regents also approved revisions to Article 5/Policy 5: Faculty (Except Policy 5.D.2.B) and the rescissions of Article 9.A: Designations and Appendix 4.1: Dismissal of Faculty as a Result of Academic Unit or Degree Program Discontinuance once the changes to Article 5/Policy 5 take effect at a later date.
