Coleman Institute Sponsors the IASSIDD 2024 World Congress

The Coleman Institute is proud to be one of the sponsors for the IASSIDD 2024 World Congress. Hosted by the International Association for the Scientific Study of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IASSIDD), this year’s conference will be held in Chicago August 5-8, 2024.

Founded in 1964, the IASSIDD is the first and only worldwide group dedicated to the scientific study of intellectual disability. It is an international, interdisciplinary, and scientific non-governmental organization which promotes worldwide research and information exchange on intellectual disabilities. The IASSIDD’s vision is a world where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities live fulfilling and healthy lives, as valued members of their communities, and where they experience the full and equal enjoyment of all human rights and fundamental freedoms as articulated in United Nations conventions.

The 2024 Congress’s theme is “Reimagining Connections”, an opportunity to re-connect with colleagues from around the world, develop new collaborations, and exchange ideas internationally. It has been five years since the last IASSIDD World Congress that was held in Glasgow, Scotland. Typically, the IASSIDD World Congresses are held every three years with regional conferences in the interim years. However, due to the pandemic, this Congress was postponed by two years.

Other sponsors for the 2024 Congress include the Special Olympics, the Association of University Centers on Disabilities, Wiley, Waterloo Aviation, Curtin University, the Council on Quality and Leadership, Catalight, Direct Support Workforce Solutions, and Disabilities, an open access journal by MDPI.

More information about the conference can be found on its website.
