Don Elliman named chancellor of CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus

DENVER – CU President Bruce D. Benson announced the selection of Don Elliman as chancellor of the University of Colorado Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus. Elliman has been interim chancellor for the university since February of last year.

“We are fortunate to have someone of Don’s caliber at this critical juncture in our university’s history,” Benson said. “He is an experienced, energetic leader who is fully invested in the success of CU Denver | Anschutz Medical Campus.”

Elliman has filled such high-profile positions as the state’s chief operating officer, director of the Office of Economic Development and executive director of the Charles C. Gates Center for Regenerative Medicine and Stem Cell Biology at the CU Anschutz Medical Campus.

Additionally, he had a 30-year career in publishing with Time Inc. (serving as president of Sports Illustrated and publisher of People Magazine) and was president of Ascent Sports, then-owner of the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche and Pepsi Center.

“It’s an honor and a privilege to have the opportunity to be part of this great university's success,” Elliman said. “Our students, faculty and staff are first-rate and I look forward to working with them to help CU Denver/Anschutz Medical Campus grow and prosper.”

His responsibilities will include broad oversight of the Denver and Anschutz Medical campuses, which have consolidated administrative functions such as human resources, budget and finance and university communications.
