CU President Kennedy and Incoming President Saliman Discuss Key Federal Priorities During Transition
CU President Mark Kennedy and incoming President Todd Saliman met with campus leaders from CU Boulder and UCCS to discuss ongoing federal research priorities and key partnerships. The visits took place on June 21. During the visit to CU Boulder, the university leaders met with Laboratory of Atmospheric and Space Physics (LASP) leadership to learn more about ongoing projects and future opportunities at NASA, as well as international partnerships. In addition, Kennedy and Saliman met with leadership from CU Boulder’s Center for National Security Initiatives to hear about national security research and workforce priorities and capabilities. Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation, Terri Fiez, joined for the visits.
While in Colorado Springs, Kennedy and Saliman met with UCCS leadership for a tour and update on the National Cybersecurity Center (NCC), and met with Dean Donald Rabern to learn about key initiatives within the College of Engineering and Applied Science in support of expanding the STEM workforce across the Pikes Peak Region. UCCS Chancellor Venkat Reddy and Senior Vice Chancellor of University Advancement Martin Wood were among those in attendance. The visit to the NCC also included a meeting with community leaders to discuss the critical role of existing and emerging partnerships between the university and key stakeholders across the region.
