Representative Tom Sullivan on Panel at CU Anschutz Medical Campus
Students were invited to learn more about engaging in the policy process at a Saturday morning event organized by members of the CU Anschutz Medical Campus Student Senate and the Office of Government Relations. The panel, which was held on the CU Anschutz Medical Campus February 9th, included Representative Tom Sullivan (D-Centennial) and CU lobby team member Jerry Johnson. Attendes were provided insight into the legislative process, a snapshot of the newly convened State Legislature, the current state of introduced legislation and ideas for student advocacy. Rep. Sullivan addressed the issue of gun violence and talked about legislation that he intended to introduce during the 2019 session. His son was one of the victims in the 2012 Aurora theater shooting, and the newly elected representative has become an outspoken advocate of gun control. The event was attended by a large group of students from every professional school on the campus.
