Two reports migrate from Cognos QA to Cognos production this week.
m-Fin Blog has moved to a new software platform. Resubscribe.
Try out the new m-Fin FINANCIAL DETAIL in Cognos QA. We have added more project attributes to the header display, and also to the dataset output (MSExcel 2007 data and csv).
Usually it’s hard to use a list of position numbers that doesn’t show the names of the people that are in the positions. So when we created the m-Fin POSITION BUDGET report we made it display the ID and name of each position’s current incumbent. This is important to understand when you have positions that have been occupied by different people over time. The report is just identifying the *current* incumbent in order to cue the reader which position is which.
CU is now running Cognos 10.2.1 in production. My thanks to UIS/IRM’s Molly Doyle for doing so much to ensure a smooth production upgrade, and I know there are others in UIS who are backing her up, making her look good. Thanks also to OUC’s Sarju Khadka and Ryan Day for testing and troubleshooting.
If you have saved links to Cognos that go to “mod2″, these links will no longer work after this week. You will instead get a (useless) message asking if you want to open or save the mod2_cognos.so file:
[10_2_1] Assuming known issues are resolved, CU plans to upgrade to Cognos version 10.2.1 in just a few days. It is available now for you to test in Cognos QA. The reports should be the same. Cognos Connection, however, gets a makeover with a new color theme and button icons. Cognos Connection is the part of Cognos you interact with when navigating folders and launching reports. This is an incremental “dot version” upgrade from 10.2.0. The significant changes are all back-room improvements. So while it looks different we expect that you’ll be able to continue using Cognos the same. If you find that you have some trouble or uncertainty about this new version we want to know before the production upgrade – leave a comment below.
This is not something requiring action from users right now. I just want you to be aware that it is happening. CU is preparing to upgrade to Cognos 10.2.1 the weekend of July 25, 2014.
Faster run times. Fewer clicks. Fund multi-select. These are the motivators behind our newest version of m-Fin OPERATING SUMMARY.
