Annual Financial Report Continues to Spark Interest at NACUBO
Assistant Vice President/University Controller Robert (Bob) Kuehler got high praise for CU's Annual Financial Report and Illustrated Guide at the recent NACUBO Higher Education Accounting Forum.
The Forum offers the latest information on trends and best practices in financial accounting and reporting, managerial analysis, and leadership issues. Forum organizers were particularly interested in spotlighting the Report and Guide, which received a 2014 NACUBO Innovation Award.
In his presentation on "User-Enhanced Online Financial Statements," Bob outlined the challenges and vision behind the OUC's cutting-edge redesign of the Annual Report. He also explained the commitment to transparency and feedback that led to the creation of the interactive Illustrated Guide to the Annual Report. The Guide translates complex concepts into plain English for non-accountants and offers a mechanism for comments and questions.
Joining Bob at the podium to present the external auditor's perspective was colleague Paul Niedermuller, Principal at CliftonLarsonAllen LLP. Both Bob and Paul were delighted with the level of interest expressed by attendees throughout the remainder of the conference.
NACUBO videotaped the session for publication on their website in order to assure maximum viewing by Forum attendees and virtual Forum participants. (The virtual Forum seeks to share the top sessions from the live event with an extended audience.)
