CUSP Submission Promotes Campus Safety
The Boulder Campus Police Department recently tapped into CU-Boulder’s Google investment and enhanced security through a new Community Safety Official (CSO) website.
Within a few months, the initial project had expanded in scope and complexity as the team (Officer Joseph Rossi and assistant Jonathon Stevenson) leveraged Google Sites, Google Calendar, Google Maps, and Google Forms to draw together a complex array of information. Together, these resources facilitate CSO responsibilities for campus events, building lockdowns, and constituent notifications.
The system sets forth a schedule for securing building doors that accommodates ad hoc and routine events. It further lays out a number of activities required of CSOs, serving as an immediate training guide and reminder.
Thanks to the efforts of Joseph and Jonathon, Community Safety Officials are now better equipped to carry out their duties:
- Training time has been cut from one month to one week.
- Campus security has been enhanced through a reduction in unauthorized unsecured buildings and increased information sharing.
- Stakeholder focus has been enhanced.
And more improvements are on the horizon!
Find out how it all works by reading Sergeant Brian Brown's submission on the CU Shared Practices (CUSP) website!
