OUC’s CPE fulfills NASBA Best Practices Recommendations
Our CPE Program Manager Lisa Vallad recently returned from the NASBA Summit, a National Association of State Boards of Accountancy event. The OUC’s participation in this annual conference is critical to ensuring the ongoing success and compliance of our Continuing Professional Education for Certified Public Accountants (CPE for CPAs) Program.
This year, we were interested to learn about the newly published best practices and templates being recommended by NASBA. And we’re pleased that Lisa had already implemented these approaches – such as documenting instructor qualifications, formally reviewing each course, and assuring the development of effective learning objectives. These have all been in place in the CU CPE program since its inception, four years ago. (Thank you, Lisa!)
We also learned that while our sponsorship is for the group-live delivery of courses, a synchronous webinar that is facilitated at each location will be considered group-live provided at least two participants are at the remote location.
The OUC’s CPE Program is a top priority for our office. We regularly review and replenish the course offerings schedule, seek out additional experienced instructors, and solicit feedback from employees and other individuals. In fact, we report on CPE progress via our new OUC Metrics – see for yourself, at www.cu.edu/controller/ouc-metrics-report-2014.
