Who Needs to Complete the Fiscal Cert & Assessment?
Officers are asked to complete an annual, mandatory fiscal certification. Other individuals with a significant level of fiscal authority -- including Principal Investigators (PIs) heading up projects or programs with combined expenses or budget of $2 million or more for the fiscal year under review -- are asked to complete an annual, mandatory fiscal assessment.

How to Access Your Fiscal Certification/Assessment
Log in to your campus portal. Click on the CU Resources Home drop-down menu and select Business Tools, then click on the Fiscal Cert & Assessment tile. Do not select the Voluntary Fiscal Assessment link.
How to Complete Your Certification/Assessment
- In the upper right portion of the Fiscal Certification/Assessment home page, click Start Certification or Start Assessment.
- This will launch a series of slides containing either the Fiscal Certification or the Fiscal Assessment, depending on your position and assignment. You will need to Agree or Disagree (or indicate Not Applicable), as appropriate.
- If you disagree with a statement, an Exception Description box will open and you will be required to enter a Comment in that box. (Use the Back button to review previous slides.)
- If you need to exit the Certification or Assessment prior to completing and submitting, click on the Home button to be redirected to your home page.
- When you return, you will be directed to the last slide you completed before exiting. Re-enter the Certification or Assessment using the Continue Certification or Continue Assessment button on your home page.
- When you submit your completed Certification or Assessment, you will receive a message advising that once you submit, no changes can be made. If you wish to review your answers before submitting, use the Back button to do so.
- When you Submit, you will be directed to the Fiscal Cert & Assessment home page. Your certification/assessment status should now be updated to Complete. You will also notice that the Start Certification or Start Assessment buttons have changed to Review Certification or Review Assessment.
