The Effective Communication Specialization takes you on a journey of self realization. You’ll learn that excellence in communication involves the ability to express who you are—your best self—in everything you touch. By taking the individual courses, Business Writing, Graphic Design, and Successful Presentation, you’ll hone your written, visual, and verbal business presentation skills. You'll learn to write well-organized, clear business documents that showcase your ideas; to design elegant presentation slides, reports, documents, and other visual products; and to present and speak with confidence and power. In the final Capstone Project, you will develop a portfolio of work—including a memo, a slide deck, and a presentation—to showcase your communication skills and represent your personal brand.

Dr. Quentin McAndrew

Dr. Quentin McAndrew teaches American literature and business writing at the University of Colorado Boulder, where her students rank her as one of the best instructors at the University. Quentin holds a B.A. and M.A. in English from Stanford University, and a Ph.D. in English from the University of Colorado Boulder. She also brings more than a decade of high-level corporate experience to her teaching of business writing. Quentin holds a fourth degree black belt and regularly competes in karate tournaments.

Professor William Kuskin

William Kuskin is Professor of English at the University of Colorado Boulder. He received his BA from Vassar College (1987) and his PhD. from the University of Wisconsin—Madison (1998). Prof. Kuskin works on the history of literary books, from medieval manuscripts to twenty-first century comic books. He has completed two books on England’s first printer, William Caxton, a monograph, Symbolic Caxton: Literary Culture and Print Capitalism (Notre Dame Press, 2008), and an edited collection, Caxton’s Trace: Studies in the History of English Printing (Notre Dame Press, 2006). He has written on fifteenth- and sixteenth-century English literature, world literature, online pedagogy, and graphic novels, including guest editing a special issue of ELN, Graphia: Literary Criticism and the Graphic Novel. His new book, Recursive Origins: Writing at the Transition to Modernity is just out.
