Senator Gardner Visits CU Cancer Center for Immunotherapy Discussion
Senator Cory Gardner visited the CU Anschutz Medical Campus to learn more about cutting-edge immunotherapy research taking place at the University of Colorado Cancer Center and CU School of Medicine. During the briefing, which took place on August 8, the Senator learned about campus efforts to bring these new treatments to patients. CU Anschutz Medical campus Chancellor Don Elliman and Dean of CU School of Medicine and Vice Chancellor for the Office of Health Affairs John J. Reilly, Jr welcomed the Senator to campus. Richard Schulick, MD, MBA, Director of the Cancer Center; Eduardo Davila, PhD, professor of medicine and director of immunotherapy medical oncology, and Terry Fry, MD, professor of pediatrics and co-director of the Human Immunology and Immunotherapy Initiative (HI3) all took part in the conversation. Dr. Davila outlined his research in tumor infiltrating lymphocytes therapy and Dr. Fry described his work with CAR T-Cell therapy.
