UCCS Presents on Cybersecurity Programs
The Joint Business Affairs committee met for State Measurement for Accountable, Responsive, and Transparent Government (SMART) Act Hearings and received an update on S.B. 18-086 Cyber Coding Cryptology for State Records, which was reauthorized for three more years of funding in the 2024 session. UCCS receives $2.8 million from this allocation, which is shared with the National Cybersecurity Center. This is a collaborative effort with other higher education institutions across the state, including Pikes Peak Community College; Colorado Mesa University; Western Colorado University; Colorado State University; and Metropolitan State University of Denver. There was good engagement from members of the committee during the January 9 hearing, and many expressed their happiness with the programs and the work that has been done on the cyber front.
