At the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, the Laboratory Registration Program was implemented as a process whereby Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) could collect a variety of information about any area on campus where there are chemical or physical hazards (e.g., traditional research and teaching labs in science and engineering, photo labs, art studios, shops, theatre works). Using data electronically submitted via registration and chemical inventory forms, EHS created a single consolidated database of critical operations and contact information. The database serves a variety of purposes, including tracking training requirements for staff and identifying the need for additional safety protocols.
