Course Objectives:

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the basic components of the annual financial statements;
  • Define the purpose of each of the above components;
  • Describe the interaction of each of the components and how they contribute to an overall financial picture of the entity;
  • Discuss areas of particular interest when reading governmental financial statements; and,
  • Understand how the balances and disclosures in the financial statements paint a picture of the University beyond simple debits and credits.
