On February 20, UCCS Chancellor Shockley-Zalabak hosted U.S. Senator Cory Gardner on campus to discuss the coordinated efforts within the Southern Colorado Higher Education Consortium (SCHEC) about increasing student participation and success. During the visit, the Senator toured the campus, with particular focus on science and engineering as well as cyber security.

The presidents of Pueblo Community College, Lamar Community College, and Otero Junior College joined the Chancellor and Senator via telepresence to discuss the SCHEC.
