In its release of the 2023 Best Colleges rankings, U.S. News & World Report once again recognized CU Denver among the nation’s best schools and No. 1 for social mobility in the state of Colorado for the second year in a row.

Course Study Programs

Women's and Gender Studies at College of Liberal Arts & Sciences - Students and faculty probe assumptions about gender identity and sexual practices, and they question structures of inequality as they play out in local and global contexts.  Through a study of gender and sexuality, we expand our thinking about other relations of power, such as those involving race, class, ethnicity, nationality, and physical ability.

Gender and Society Concentration Sociology BA at College of Liberal Arts & Sciences - A concentration in Gender and Society provides students with an understanding of the role of gender in the experiences of females, males, and gender non-conforming individuals. The interdisciplinary nature of the concentration enables students to develop the skills to critically evaluate the ways in which inequality, oppression, and social structure contribute to various social problems such as restrictions on reproductive health, the pay gap, sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking.

Campus Centers & Offices

LGBTQ Student Resource Center - The LGBTQ Student Resource Center is a tri-institutional student fee-funded department that strives to improve the campus climate for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer students. We do this by fostering acceptance and understanding through educating the campus community about issues related to this population and developing programming that unites diverse communities of people.

Phoenix Center at Auraria - The Phoenix Center provides free and confidential resources and assistance to survivors of interpersonal violence (relationship violence, sexual violence, and stalking), as well as their friends, families, and concerned others.

Women & Gender Student Services - The Women & Gender Student Services (WGSS) at CU Denver provides advocacy, education, resources, and support for students overcoming gender-specific barriers to success. We are committed to ensuring students have equitable access to educational and professional opportunities regardless of gender, and we are particularly committed to supporting students who belong to our most marginalized categories.

Employee Groups & Programs

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion - We aim to make education work for all by valuing, welcoming, supporting, and educating all people. We recognize that institutions are stronger and more innovative when their culture is inclusive and their talent is diverse. We strive to be a model equity institution for the nation.

LGBTQ+ Affinity Group - CU Denver’s affinity groups support the institution’s goals of being equity serving and a people-centered best place to work through voluntary association based on identity, background, interest, allyship and/or goals. Affinity groups will contribute to this work by providing community engagement and educational opportunities relevant to their communities and by supporting professional development of their members.

LGBTQ+ Operational Team - Operational Teams support our ESI goals by developing proposals for programming and policy that address structural and environmental barriers to success for students and employees.

Office of Equity - The Office of Equity (OE) is committed to ensuring gender equity for all students, staff, faculty, and third-parties that interact with our institution.

LGBTQ+ Faculty Assembly Committee - The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer + Committee (LGBTQ+) reviews policies and practices, evaluates and recommends policies affecting the needs of LGBTQ+ faculty and students.
