Changes to 1800 Grant’s guest Wi-Fi network coming soon

A guest Wi-Fi network allows users to log in with a password instead of having a fully public and unsecure network. CU System’s guest network at 1800 Grant is transitioning to a new workflow for connecting, requiring users to agree to an acceptable use policy (AUP) instead of inputting a password.

An AUP is a digital guardrail. It details the usage guidelines for CU’s Wi-Fi network and heightens the protection of sensitive university data. The new AUP brings CU System’s guest Wi-Fi access process into alignment with the campuses’ processes.

Changes in 1800 Grant's guest Wi-Fi connection process

1. When you connect to 1800 Grant’s guest Wi-Fi, CUSYS-GUEST, you will be automatically redirected to the AUP page or prompted to open the page in your browser.

2. Click Accept at the bottom of the page.

3. Another page will open, confirming that you are connected to the network. After 5 seconds, this page will refresh and redirect you to cu.edu. You are now fully connected.

Tips:

  • Depending on your operating system, your browser may automatically open the AUP after connecting to the network, or you may have to open a browser manually. Usually, your device will prompt you to open the page when in the Manage Wi-Fi Connections panel.
  • If you are connecting a mobile device to the network, you may be prompted to “sign in to network.” This is the same as opening a browser and accepting the AUP on a laptop or PC.
  • The network name will stay the same, CUSYS-Guest.

The UIS Service Desk has related guides for connecting. Review the Wireless section on the How-to-Guides page on the Service Desk’s website for instructions.
