At the Boulder Campus, in 2024, student radio station KVCU 1190 suffered a failure of their decade-old automation system.

Iris Berkeley and Eric Scace leveraged that failure as a quick-turnaround opportunity to create a modern system. The new KVCU offers 24/7 operation even without a DJ in the studio and expands service offering to include CU events announcements and revenue-generating underwriting scheduling – all while generating a significant time savings for CU Boulder student employees.

Installing this new system has enabled CU staff and student employees to rapidly, flexibly schedule music, news, underwriting and promotional programming in advance, from any computer, at any time. Previously, such functions were limited In scope and needed to be done onsite, from the physical studio location.
