FY16 Maintenance Window Schedule Announced

The FY16 production and non-production maintenance windows are approved and available on the UIS Business Calendar and are accessible to CU employees with access. Approval takes place in partnership with business and campus leaders who help ensure that we maintain our systems without impacting campus operations.

Here are the guiding principles that go into determining maintenance window dates, followed by the FY16 dates as added to the Business Calendar. If you do not have access to the business calendar and would like to be included, please contact the UIS Service Desk.

Guiding Principles for Maintenance Windows

• Non-production maintenance typically occurs on a Friday and production maintenance generally occurs on a Sunday. There are exceptions throughout the year, dependent on the level and type of work included (such as fiscal year end or windows that include both regular maintenance and CS bundles). Extended windows and those occurring on a non-standard day are requested ahead of time for confirmation with campuses and business offices.
• The standard timeframe for maintenance windows is 6 a.m. - 6 p.m. If changes are requested, UIS will reach out to the campuses and business offices ahead of time for approval.
• Assume full production and development outages during windows unless otherwise noted in the maintenance window communications.
• Non-production maintenance windows occur at least two weeks prior to production maintenance windows. We take care to minimize inconvenience by ensuring that we’re not executing a production maintenance window on Sunday only to turn around and execute a non-production maintenance window a few days later and vice versa.
• UIS is maturing in our infrastructure to do “hot” maintenance off-hours during the week. These maintenance efforts will be performed at low risk/low volume times and we will communicate status with you.

The following are the maintenance windows for FY16. Please remember that we may reach out to campuses and business offices to extend, add or change dates and times based on maintenance needs. It is important that you check the Business Calendar prior to scheduling projects that may be affected by these changes.
