Course Audience Description

CU: HIPAA Regulations

Required for employees who use HIPAA-protected information. This 30-minute course provides an overview of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and is designed to educate the CU workforce member on the vital role that health care professionals play in protecting the privacy and security of protected health information (PHI). APS 5055 HIPAA Hybrid Entity Designation, Exhibit A outlines which units are required to complete this course based on level of potential involvement with PHI. Workforce members in designated units are expected to complete this course in order to familiarize themselves with HIPAA’s core principles and their application in daily activities. Completion is required on an annual basis, once per fiscal year.
